The Components of a Security System

Every security system is dependent on the principle of securing the access points. For instance, phone locks are intended to deny illegal entry into the phone to access private information. The same principle applies to homes or institutions which contain valuables such as art, money, computers as well as jewelry. To keep such things safe and away from thieves, one has to install a security system which will be used to ensure that all those with dangerous and illegal intentions are kept out. A security system can be defined as a manner in which something is secured through the use of inter-networking devices and components. Security systems can also be installed at homes to ensure that there are no break-ins as well as burglar attacks. Keeping your family safe is something mandatory and one would go through all the expenses to install security measures that can entirely ensure this is achieved. A home security system includes each of the following aspects: entry sensors placed at doors and windows, a control panel which controls the entire system as well as an alarm or a decibel siren.

  1. Entry Sensors – Both door and window sensors represent two parts of a security system each placed adjacent to each other. One part of the security device is placed on the entry while the other placed on the frame. When the entry is closed, both devices are joined together resulting in the creation of a security circuit. Once the circuit is complete, the devices communicate with the control panel reporting that the entry has been secured. However, if the door or window in the entry is opened, the circuit is broken therefore resulting in the breach of security which causes an alarm to be sounded. A similar notification is sent to the security monitoring company for them to take action.
  2. Control Panel – This here represents the heart of the entire home security system. It comprises of a computer which is used in either arming or disarming the security system. The control panel communicates with each component of the system, setting off an alarm when the security is breached. The control panel also comprises of a password which is used by the user to log into the system for arming or disarming purposes.
  3. Alarm/Decibel Alarm – As always alarms are used to create attention wherever required. The security systems also come with alarms which are loud enough for those within the environment to hear. They also alert the people within the house that a breach has been made so that they can remain keen. The shrill of the alarms are also intended to confuse and scare the burglar while at the same time, a signal has already been set to the response security company.
